TY Trip to Paris 2019

On Tuesday the 12th of March our TY class departed from Clonaslee community centre at 1:00 am to make our way to the airport. We arrived at the airport starving so we swiftly made our way through security so we could get our breakfast.

We arrived in Paris, eager to see the city. We met our coach and we were brought to pizza hut for an early lunch. After we had our lunch we met our tour guide and we received a guided tour of Paris. We saw the Champs Elysees, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe and many more. The tour ended at the Eiffel tower. When we got off the coach we couldn’t believe how big the Eiffel tower actually was. We had to go through a lot of security so we could make our way up to the Eiffel tower. Some people struggled to get to the highest level but everyone got there in the end. We couldn’t go to the very top as it was too windy but the level we got to was high enough for most people. Everyone enjoyed seeing the Eiffel tower but it was very cold and it was a long walk down. Next we walked from the Eiffel tower to the metro. The metro wasn’t as packed as we thought it would be so everyone got a seat. The metro was a new experience for everyone and it was like something you’d see in a movie. The metro brought us to the Notre dame where we had free time to get food. After everyone had eaten we made our way back to hotel where we spent the evening relaxing and swimming.

The next morning, we got up early and had our breakfast. Our coach brought us to Disneyland. Disneyland was everyone’s favourite day. Even the people who were afraid of rollercoasters got on them. From the amazing firework display to the thrilling roller coasters Disneyland was the highlight of everyone’s trip. That night we returned to the hotel where we spent the night swimming. Anyone that went swimming had a great time and it was a good activity to keep us busy

We woke up even earlier on the last day so we could pack and get our breakfast. We checked out of the hotel and loaded our stuff onto the bus. We saw the Sacre-Coeur cathedral and Montmartre. We walked up the steps and we got to see the amazing architecture inside the cathedral. After this we got free time to shop and get food and some people even tried French delicacies like frog’s legs and snails. We got back onto the bus and we went to the Louvre. We went straight to the Mona Lisa and we were surprised at how small it was compared to the other paintings. We would’ve loved to stay longer at the Louvre to see more of the famous artwork. Our boat trip along the Seine was enjoyable and we got to see Paris from another angle. We spent most of the boat trip waving at Parisians. After this we made our way back to the airport. It was a long drive due to traffic but we got there with plenty of time to make our flight.

Everyone was sad to leave Paris but I think we were all ready to go home. Overall it was a very well organised trip that had a bit of something for everyone.
