Get Ready to Rock Your Socks!

As part of his TY Community Engagement Module, Alec is organising Rock Your Socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day in conjunction with the Down Syndrome Centre Midlands. World Down Syndrome Day takes place on Saturday, March 21st. Clonaslee College will celebrate the day on Friday, March 20th. We are raising awareness for Down Syndrome by wearing bright, fun, or mismatched socks.

Why Crazy Socks?

  • When looking at a karyotype (a picture of our chromosomes under a microscope), the chromosomes look like pairs of socks. The staining makes them look striped, just like socks.
  • Some people also wear an extra sock to represent the extra chromosome in Down syndrome.

Alec will be selling mismatched socks to raise money for the Down Syndrome Centre Midlands. If you would like to buy a pair, please contact Alec or Ms. Maher
