As an Amber Flag School, we’re proud that wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. While our Smile Week is a highlight in our calendar, we focus on promoting positive mental health all year round at Clonaslee College.
Over the past few weeks, our Senior Cycle students have been busy educating their peers and promoting positive mental health within our school community. As part of this initiative, students researched and presented on the effects of social media on young people and explored practical ways to support their own wellbeing.
From school-based initiatives like Bí Cineálta (Ireland’s new national anti-bullying policy) to useful wellbeing apps such as Headstrong, techniques for meditation, and awareness of community supports like Pieta House, students delivered a wide range of informative and engaging presentations.
As Senior Cycle students, it’s so important that they take time to mind themselves, especially as they prepare for exams and life beyond school. Developing presentation and communication skills will also serve them well as they move on to third-level or PLC courses.
A big thank you to all the students who put time and effort into researching and presenting these valuable topics, and to Ms. Fallon for running this initiative.
