It was an openingnight to remember as the very talented Transition Year students of Clonaslee College performedashow in the Parochial Hall in Clonaslee . The show on Wednesday 15th May 2019 was the first night of three nights and each night the hall was packed to capacity. The students performed “A Midsummer Camp’s Dream”, a play written by Terence Patrick Hughes. As well as acting, students sang, danced and played a number of musical instruments with a number of students working behind the scenes. The show was produced by Mr Tom McLoughlin of the Clodiagh Players Drama Group and English teacher, Ms Cora Scully.

The play is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic. The scene is set deep in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, where Camps Barrow and Brittas are set into chaos as the owner played by Luke Dunne, has decided to close one of the camps. His son Dickie played by Christy Conroy and fellow camper, John Joe, played by Sean Lee lead the boys in a “winner takes all talent show” against the girls led by Eugenie, played by Larissa Wisely and Helen, played by Shannon Daly. All the while King Oreo (Ciaran Cuddy) is vexed by his queen (Oisin Kelly) and sets his trusty aid Puck (Aisling Dunne) to scatter magic, confusion, and a good dose of laughs across the forests.
