This week, our students were honoured to attend the very first LOETB Digital Arts Programme Awards, held in the Esker Arts Centre.
Throughout the school year, students have been developing their skills in filmmaking, virtual reality, and podcasting. We were delighted to showcase our students’ short films to such a large audience and proud to see them nominated across a number of categories.
On the night, we were especially thrilled that our TY VR team received the Runner-Up Award for their incredible work in creating a virtual reality tour of the school — in the video, you’ll even spot our principal, Mr. Cotter, taking a tour!
We were also delighted to celebrate Ashleen, who won the award for Best Solo Performance for her outstanding role in her group’s short film. Thanks so much to Niamh, for accepting the award on behalf of the film crew!
We’d like to congratulate all the deserving winners from the other LOETB schools, our students were definitely inspired by the talent on display on the night!
A huge thank you to all at LOETB ,especially Terence O Brien, and to Laois County Council, Offaly County Council, Film Offaly and Laois Arts Centre for their support of such a fantastic programme in our schools. The night did an excellent job in showcasing the benefits of the programme in each of the nine schools. We also think Seanie Morris found his calling as a presenter extraordinaire!
We hope you enjoy this little snippet from the DAP Awards Watch Video Here
We’ve lots more photos from the night to share soon!
Thank you also to Ms Maher, Ms Dunne, Ms Wilson and Mr Todd who support the implementation of these programmes in our school.
