Our Transition Year students recently welcomed Dorothy and Tanya from the Laois branch of the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal to speak about this annual initiative.
Dorothy and Tanya explained how the appeal collects shoeboxes filled with small gifts and essential items, which are then distributed to children affected by war, poverty and disease in Eastern Europe and Africa. They also brought along sample filled shoeboxes to show students the types of items that can be included and to offer practical guidance on preparing their own boxes.
Since the visit, our TY students have been busy promoting the appeal throughout the school and are hoping to collect as many shoebox donations as possible before the Halloween break . We would really appreciate the support of our school community in helping our TY students make this community initiative a success.
Many thanks to Dorothy and Tanya for taking the time to visit. Remember every shoebox makes a difference! 🎁
