Smile Week: Day 2 Recap!

Smile Week Day 2 was full of great fun and educational experiences to help our students mind their mental health and boost their wellbeing!

Our 3rd Year and LCA students had a beneficial talk from Sarah Butler from Jigsaw , a fantastic youth mental health charity which offers free therapy and support to young people. Sarah spoke about how Jigsaw works for young people, even providing online services. We’d recommend everyone follows their socials, we are big fans of their mental health check-ins!

Our 5th Years took a break from the books to head out for a fun game of Rounders. As usual with our 5th years, their competitive sides emerged and their tightly contested game ended in a draw.

Our LCPE students welcomed Michelle, a Sports Psychology specialist, for an informative talk on all things sports psychology. Michelle provided lots of tips that we can implement into our training to improve our performances. She also shared some techniques to reduce anxiety coming up to exams in the next few weeks. The teachers thoroughly enjoyed the talk too. Check in with Ms. Staunton if you want to access some of the tips and techniques that Michelle discussed and we sampled.

Our sixth years kept us entertained through Anything But A Bag Day – from BBQs to kennels, there were lots of laughs at just how exam papers appeared in class! Keep an eye out for videos of the fun to follow.

Some of our sixth years (Edel, Ewan, Clodagh and Aaron) were chosen to be judges of the staff bake-off, and we heard they took the job very seriously. A full sensory analysis of each anonymous entry was provided by our judges! The tallying continues to see who will be crowned Best Staff Baker! It’s all up in the air after Mr Callaghan graciously refrained from entering this year to give the other entries a chance!

HUGE thanks to Ms Staunton, Ms McLoughlin, their Smile Team and our FAB Lunchtime Club for all the work they’ve put into Smile Week so far!
