We are incredibly proud of our Transition Year students who recently represented our school with great distinction at SciFest, hosted at TUS Athlone. SciFest is an esteemed national STEM initiative designed to foster and celebrate student engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, offering young scientists the opportunity to present their innovative investigations to a wider audience.
In the weeks leading up to the event, our TY students dedicated themselves to rigorous research, experimentation, and analysis in preparation for the competition. Their hard work culminated in the production of detailed scientific reports and impressive poster presentations. The range of topics explored was both diverse and highly relevant, with projects investigating phone addiction, asthma awareness and burnout in sports.
On the day, schools from across the Midlands gathered to showcase their projects to an esteemed panel of judges and visitors. Our students demonstrated exceptional communication skills and scientific knowledge as they presented their findings. One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to meet Dr. Declan Colbert, a Tullamore native with an impressive reputation in scientific fields. His educational journey and insights were a source of great inspiration for all in attendance.
Our students were equally impressed by the creativity and innovation displayed in projects from other schools, contributing. A huge thank you to Ms. Cleare for her support and meticulous preparation behind the scenes, her guidance played a key role in the students’ success.
We are immensely proud of our TYs for their enthusiasm, commitment and outstanding representation of our school at SciFest.
