Our soccer tradition is continuing to grow here in Clonaslee College as we fielded our very first minor team this week.
The boys took on Curragh Community College at home in the Minor B Cup. It was an exciting game from start to finish. Curragh CC led 2–1 into the second half, but Clonaslee equalised to bring the game to extra time. Our two goal scorers in normal time hailed from Second Year, with both Jarlath Carroll and Danny Christle giving an impressive performance.
In extra time, Pádraig Thornton found the back of the net to give Clonaslee a 3–2 lead, but a late penalty for Curragh brought the sides level once again. Despite dominating large parts of the match and creating plenty of chances, the game had to be decided on penalties and Clonaslee narrowly missed out after a brilliant effort.
This was a very promising start for our Minor soccer team!
