Ógra Live Well Expo

On Wednesday, members of our Student Council visited Mountmellick Community School for the Ógra Live Well Expo, organised in partnership with Volunteer Laois. We were delighted to be invited by Ms Cashin from MCS, following our students’ recent meeting at Laois Comhairle na nÓg.

Our students spent time exploring the expo, meeting a range of important local groups and organisations, and taking part in plenty of interactive activities. There was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day, with music, dance, games, and lots of opportunities to chat and connect with students from other schools and community organisations.

A real highlight was meeting some familiar faces including local celebrity Kieran Corrigan and the International Rose of Tralee, Katelyn Cummins, who hails from Laois.

As part of the Live Well Expo, a public speaking competition also took place in the Mountmellick Library. Dylan delivered a persuasive, well-researched speech on the topic “Failure is just as important as success for our wellbeing and mental health.” By the time he was finished, he had the audience ready to embrace failure! We are very proud of him for getting involved.

Well done to all involved in organising on a fantastic day!
