Presidential Visit from Mary McAleese, 5th of March 2010

With the appointment of Catherine Connolly as the new President of Ireland, we couldn’t help but reminisce about the time former President Mary McAleese visited Clonaslee College back in 2010. It was such an honour to host the President, who made a fantastic impression on everyone in our school community at the time.
We dug into the archives, and with a little help from our retired friends (thank you, Mrs Higgins!), we uncovered not only some original photos, but also newspaper coverage from The Laois Nationalist and The Leinster Express.
We’ve already spotted a few familiar faces among staff and students in the pictures! If you can identify any past pupils shown, we’d love if you could let them know
It’s always nice to take a trip down memory lane and now this has us thinking we might need to dive into the archives a bit more often!
