This week, Women in Sport Week, we are celebrating some of our current students and staff, and even past pupils, as fantastic examples of women in sport within our school community.
From camogie, football, basketball and swimming to Irish dancing, the talent across our school body is incredible. Sport plays such an important role in building confidence, teamwork and lifelong friendships, and we are proud to see so many of our students thriving both in school and within their local clubs. Many have even progressed to represent their county, which is an amazing achievement and a testament to their hard work.
Over the week we caught up with some of our female athletes to hear a little about their experiences in sport and the inspirational people they look up to. The number of inspiring women in sport within our school community proves that the future of women’s sport is bright.
A huge thank you to the local clubs and organisations who support and inspire our girls, helping them develop their skills, confidence and love of sport. These include Laois LGFA, Laois Camogie, Clonaslee LGFA, O’Moore’s Camogie, Sarsfields Mountmellick, Clonaslee Basketball Club, Clonaslee United, Laois Marlins, Laois Hunt Pony Club, the Lynam School of Irish Dance, Midlands Gymnastics Club and Midlands Schools League.
