Our FAB Club started in September when Ms Dunne and Ms Pierce asked students to help with our Bí Cineálta policy. The first meeting involved looking at student responses to a questionnaire and summarising the findings.
As a result of this research, Ms Dunne decided to create a club for students who do not play sport, or for those who simply wanted to work on small projects with friends. They called themselves, FAB (Friends Against Bullying) as the club was created following the anti-bullying policy questionnaire.
They meet once a week in Ms Dunne’s room for all sorts of fun activities! They’ve had a busy and enjoyable year, from reviewing policies to learning new crafts. Check out some photos of them doing everything from making soap to having manicures! They’ve also celebrated birthdays, Christmas and any other event they could think of!
This week, our FAB Committee played a huge role in celebrating Smile Week. They gifted everyone a keyring with their logo and the telephone number for Pieta House. The whole school also received a bracelet with a special message, which gave us all a reason to smile.
On Friday, they organised our school community’s own version of Darkness Into Light , with a whole-school walk into Clonaslee, stopping at the church for a photo. We have loads of photos and videos to come from this special walk!
Thanks so much to Ms Dunne and Ms Pierce for recognising the need for such a lunchtime club, and responding so quickly! So many students have benefitted from being involved throughout the year, and the whole school benefitted through Smile Week! Thanks so much to our FAB Committee — we think they have truly earned their name!
