Clonaslee College Students Brew Up Success with Barista Training

Transition Year and Leaving Certificate Applied students from Clonaslee College recently had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a two-day Barista Training Course at the LOETB Castle Buildings in Tullamore. This hands-on experience, delivered by the outstanding facilitator Imelda, proved to be an invaluable learning experience for all involved.

Throughout the course, students mastered the art of making a variety of coffees, from creamy cappuccinos to smooth lattes. Imelda’s enthusiasm and patience made the training both engaging and accessible, ensuring that every student felt confident in their new skills. Hygiene and cleanliness in a cafe setting were also a key focus, reinforcing the importance of maintaining professional standards in food service.

One of the highlights of the training was the chance to practise latte art, with students learning to create eye-catching designs in their coffee. The hands-on approach allowed them to develop real-world skills that will undoubtedly benefit them in future employment opportunities.

At the end of the two-day training, students received certification, which will be a valuable addition to their CVs as they look towards future part-time or full-time work. This training not only provided practical skills but also boosted students’ confidence in a workplace setting.

We are incredibly grateful to the LOETB for providing this opportunity and to Imelda for her excellent guidance and support. This experience has given our students a real taste of the hospitality industry one coffee at a time!
